HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council got a progress report on its 2020 goals at the meeting Monday night. Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan said the pandemic forced the council to shove some goals onto the back burner.
“As everybody knows, when we were just happily setting our goals in January of 2020, nobody had any idea of the freight train that was about to hit us,” Morgan said. “A lot of these goals completely few out the window.”
Morgan has taken a look at the history of the city, and said its goals have remained fairly confident for a long time.
“When it gets down to it, the core goals and attitudes and missions of the community really haven’t changed much over the past 30 years or so,” he said. “The Hermiston community has always had a growth-oriented mindset.”
The council will meet next week to set its goals for 2021.
