PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council will consider allowing Uber and other ride services to operate unfettered in the city for a five-month trial period.  The proposal is to determine what economic impact it has on the city’s exclusive taxi service. Elite Taxi operates the city’s ride share and mass transit systems.

The council will also hear an audit presentation that includes a corrective action plan for problems found during the audit by Dickey and Tremper LLP. The city will forward the plan, which explains how each issue will be corrected, to the state. The full audit and the corrective action plan are both part of the meeting’s agenda.

The council is expected to award contracts for this summer’s road work. Slurry seal low bidder is Doolittle Construction LLC of Snoqualmie for $362,581.38. Overlay and reconstruction of various streets low bidder is Interstate Concrete and Asphalt Company, doing business as American Rock Products of Pendleton, Its bid is for $1,333,574.50.

Public Works Director Bob Patterson is also asking the council to approve a five-year contract for goat grazing services. The city’s previous grazing contractor retired and the new contract is with Jerry Knopf who bought the goats from him.

The council will meet as the Pendleton Development Commission at 6 p.m. One of the items on its agenda is to revoke a 2010 expansion of the urban growth boundary. Since the expansion was approved there has been no new development there. By revoking the expansion, that would allow the PDC to expand the boundary elsewhere.
