LONG CREEK – The Cottonwood Fire 15 miles southwest of Long Creek has grown to 723 acres and is 45% contained. Find the latest official update from fire managers below:

Update: Most of the remaining heat is concentrated in the southern portion of the fire, and no changes to the fire’s footprint were observed overnight.
Operations: Crews will continue mopping up and improving existing line to strengthen containment. Crews are also conducting snagging operations and addressing pockets of fuel that still have potential to burn.
Weather: Sunny again today with highs in the mid‑80s. Humidity will be slightly higher than yesterday. Light winds will shift to northwest at 5 to 10 mph this afternoon, with gusts up to 15 mph. Smoke will remain in the area, and morning inversions are expected to break between 7–8 a.m. before settling back in late this evening.
