CORRECTED: Two killed in wrong-way collision near Benton City

BENTON CITY – Two people died following a wrong way collision on eastbound Interstate 82 at milepost 99, three miles east of Benton City shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

The Washington State Patrol said 76-year-old David Clark of Prosser was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-82 and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Taj S. Sohi, 20, of Kennewick. Both Sohi and Clark died at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

Two additional vehicles struck Sohi’s pickup, leaving two other people injured. They were transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. No additional details on their injuries or conditions were released.

Troopers said drugs or alcohol were involved and that the cause of the fatal collision is under investigation.
