PENDLETON – Pendleton City Manager Robb Corbett is irate about Oregon’s handling of most elements of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said he sees no rhyme or reason for decisions made regarding where the state sends vaccines.
“Whatever the formula is, give me the formula so that I can calm down,” he said. “It just drives me crazy that it feels like rural Oregon is getting the short end of the stick again.”
Corbett is also worried about kids returning to school. He said the social distancing requirements set by the state leave larger schools behind as smaller school districts can open their doors.
“The kids in the bigger schools – Hermiston and Pendleton – are going to be the last kids going back to school,” he said. “That’s not right. They have to figure out a way to attack this problem. Our kids are important too.”
