Copies Plus CP Espresso issues formal statement on fraud arrest of former employee

LA GRANDE – Copies Plus CP Espresso in La Grande has issued a formal statement regarding the February 14 arrest of former employee Alona Marie Berecz on charges related to identity theft and forgery. The full statement from the business is as follows:

“On behalf of Copies Plus, I am writing to share some difficult news. We recently discovered that a former employee was involved in fraudulent activities, including the theft of personal information from our staff and the unauthorized use of store resources.

Upon discovery, we took immediate action. The individual’s employment was terminated, and we are cooperating fully with the La Grande Police Department in their ongoing investigation.

In our 22 years of serving this community, we have never experienced a breach of trust like this. We take the security of our business and your trust very seriously. As a result, we have already implemented enhanced internal monitoring and security protocols to ensure this cannot happen again.

For those unfamiliar, Berecz was arrested by the La Grande Police Department on February 14 on charges including Forgery I (10x) Identity Theft (7x), Theft I, Theft II (3x) and Theft III.
