LA GRANDE – The Cook Memorial Library’s Seed Library opened this past Saturday and already the community is getting involved. According to a staff member at Cook Memorial, the seed Library recently received a donation of around 2,000 additional seeds from Miller’s Home Center after an employee overheard a radio announcement for the seed library.
According to Miller’s, the employee regularly purchases seeds from the Botanical Interests company and had an excess of vegetable and flower seeds on hand. Though normally going through a seed buyback program or donating to some of the local school agriculture programs, they decided to donate their seeds to Cook Memorial Library. “Why throw something away when someone else might look at it and go, ‘oh this is pretty, I’ve never grown one of those before,’” Miller’s noted.
