LA GRANDE โ€“ The Cook Memorial Libraryโ€™s Seed Library opened this past Saturday and already the community is getting involved. According to a staff member at Cook Memorial, the seed Library recently received a donation of around 2,000 additional seeds from Millerโ€™s Home Center after an employee overheard a radio announcement for the seed library.

According to Millerโ€™s, the employee regularly purchases seeds from the Botanical Interests company and had an excess of vegetable and flower seeds on hand. Though normally going through a seed buyback program or donating to some of the local school agriculture programs, they decided to donate their seeds to Cook Memorial Library. โ€œWhy throw something away when someone else might look at it and go, โ€˜oh this is pretty, Iโ€™ve never grown one of those before,โ€™โ€ Millerโ€™s noted.
