HERMISTON – A Boardman man sentenced in 2022 for his role in a drug trafficking operation is being held in the Umatilla County Jail on a U.S. Marshals hold following the issuance of a warrant last week.
Luis Navarro, 38, was pulled over by Hermiston police and found to be driving with suspended license. Officers then discovered he had an active federal probation violation warrant.
Navarro was originally arrested in 2018 after being stopped near Klamath Falls with more than eight kilograms of methamphetamine. A subsequent investigation revealed Navarro was recruited by Abel Murillo of Weston to help transport methamphetamine from California for distribution in northeast Oregon and southeast Washington.
Navarro was sentenced in 2022 to time served and five years of supervision. Court documents show his probation was revoked in February after he refused to allow a probation officer into his residence and failing to follow the instructions of a probation officer. He was ordered to serve two months in prison for that violation.
Records show a petition for violation summons or warrant for Navarro was filed with the U.S. District Court of Oregon on Oct. 30.
