PENDLETON – Last year was a dismal year for the Pendleton Convention Center. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of numerous conventions and meetings. City Manager Robb Corbett said the good news is, business is back.
“The events that were canceled in 2020 are all getting crammed into 2021,” Corbett said. “They’re working overtime to be able to keep up with all of the demands.”
Last year saw the center operating in the red. Corbett said that won’t be the case for 2021.
“The convention center has had an up-and-down history in terms of revenue, but what we’re seeing in the uptick of business is that we’ll end up the year in the black and start off coming out of COVID on a good foot,” Corbett said.
