GRANT COUNTY – The Grant County Health Department have been making contact calls since the beginning of the pandemic, informing residents who have been identified as close contacts to someone positive with COVID-19. CCS Director Kimberly Lindsay said some people are getting downright nasty over the phone:
“More-so in the last, I think 2 or 3 weeks, people have been extremely rude.
Nonetheless, at the health department we are just…in addition to genuinely caring, we are just doing our jobs. It’s getting harder.”
Lindsay also noted that there have been staff leave their jobs at the health department due to comments from community members. So far, one staff member of four total have left, reducing their contact calling workforce by 25%.
