OREGON & WASHINGTON – Consumer fireworks went on sale last Thursday in Oregon and go on sale starting today in Washington state. Sales end on July 5 in Washington and on July 6 in Oregon.
Fire marshals in both states are urging people to keep it legal and keep it safe. It is also suggested that people should check where they live or plan on visiting for any restrictions, including outright bans, on fireworks in those communities. Many communities have also set times during which it is acceptable to light fireworks.
Those who are planning to visit federal or state lands should leave the pyrotechnics at home. The possession and use of fireworks are prohibited in national parks and forests, on Bureau of Land Management lands, U.S. Fish and Wildlife properties, state beaches, state parks, and state campgrounds.
