WALLA WALLA COUNTY – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners has received an update on the Seven Mile Bridge, located off Mill Creek Road, damaged by the 2020 flood.

Walla Walla County Public Works Director Dan Mack reports that construction to install a new single-span, prestressed girder bridge is scheduled for this summer, with the project’s design and environmental permitting with the Federal Emergency Management Agency being finalized.

A call for bids is tentatively planned for next month with the project being under contract in May so that the bridge girders can be ordered in time to hit the fish window. The fish window refers to a specific, limited time frame during which in-water work is permitted to minimize disruption to aquatic life, typically occurring during periods of lower fish activity.

Construction is to begin this June with the bridge project to be completed in December.

The estimated $6.6 million project is funded by FEMA and the county.
