LA GRANDE – With nicer weather come road construction projects. Oregon Department of Transportation will begin a project on I-84 between Meacham and Spring Creek (Milepost 238 to Milepost 248). This project is to reconstruct the freeway pavement resulting in a concrete slow lane and asphalt fast lane, similar to the section between La Grande and Spring Creek. This will be a 2 year project since the construction season up at Meacham is pretty short. The speed limit will be reduced from 70 MPH down to 50 MPH through the active work zone for the safety of travelers, the Contractor’s operations, and project staff. There will be increased State Police presence at times to help remind everyone to slow down.
On behalf of our contractor’s staff and ODOT staff, I ask that you be patient and cautious through the work zone and remember the end result of the inconvenience will be a brand new, durable, smooth pavement.
