WALLA WALLA – Construction is set to begin today (Monday) on a new 81,000-square-foot WinCo Foods supermarket, a major commercial development expected to anchor the retail corridor south of State Route 125.

The city of Walla Walla’s Development Services Team confirmed that a building permit has been issued for the project, located at 2370 SE Myra Road. A preconstruction meeting held last week finalized the timeline for the site, situated just north of Highland Road.

The new location will feature several specialized sections, including a pizza department, a deli, sushi services, and an extensive bakery.

Crews will mobilize on-site starting today. Construction is scheduled to continue through the summer months, with a projected completion date this fall.

The project is expected to spur further economic activity in the immediate area. Development plans include several “out-pads” surrounding the main supermarket, which will be developed separately to house future businesses.

Based in Boise, Idaho, WinCo Foods is a member-owned supermarket chain known for its warehouse-style stores and bulk-buy options. The Myra Road location marks a significant expansion of the company’s footprint in the region.
