KENNEWICK – Construction has begun on the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery, located in the old Kennewick General Hospital, 216 W. 10th Ave., which will provide essential drug addiction recovery and crisis stabilization services for the region.
With no local recovery center to assist someone dealing with behavioral health crisis or addiction, the new center establishes an evaluation and treatment unit, crisis stabilization unit and residential treatment unit, which collectively will support 57 clients at any time.
“To see this thing finally transform into a regional facility is exciting,” Sen. Perry Dozier (R-Waitsburg) said. “There’s still a lot of work to do to move it forward, but I think we’re heading in the right direction.”
The idea started with a $2.5 million grant secured by the Benton-Franklin Recovery Coalition. Then, through the support of the community, businesses, city and county governments, plus local legislators, an additional $41 million has been raised.
While the project is being implemented in phases, the first phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
