JOHN DAY – The Grant County Library began a two-year, grant funded walking program earlier this year. The OSHU-driven program is in play currently with 20 libraries across the state, in both rural and urban settings. Grant County Librarian Chris Ostberg recently swung by KJDY and News 102 studios to provide a quick update on the program:
“Our program has given me a little bit of money so that we can help the community. We have been doing our little walks and our little talks, and we’ve come up with a program that we think might help…something that will help the whole community.”
Ostberg said the project will be announced down the line in a press release. For now, she said all is well and the conversations are still taking place. The group of no greater than 20 people walk in areas around the community for about 20 minutes. By the end of the program in 2024, Ostberg said the walks will have increased to 45 minutes.
