LA GRANDE – (Release from Community Connection of Northeast Oregon) Community Connection of Northeast Oregon (CCNO) is looking to connect with organizations that provide emergency shelter to people experiencing homelessness in Union, Baker, Wallowa, and Grant counties. As part of a state-funded planning effort, CCNO has been designated as the Regional Coordinator for Oregon’s Statewide Shelter Program and is seeking to identify shelter providers in the region who may be eligible for grant funding to support their operations.
The grant is designed to help shelters that serve adults, families, domestic violence survivors, and other vulnerable populations. Eligible shelters are those that take a “low-barrier” approach, meaning they focus on welcoming people in need without placing unnecessary restrictions on who can access services. Funding can be used to support shelter operations, staffing, and activities that help people move from homelessness into permanent housing.
Northeast Oregon is a rural area with limited shelter resources, and CCNO recognizes that many people experiencing homelessness in our four counties have few options for a safe place to stay. This funding opportunity is intended to help strengthen and sustain what shelter capacity does exist, and to help close the gaps where shelter is needed most.
If your organization operates a shelter or provides emergency housing services in Union, Baker, Wallowa, or Grant County, CCNO wants to hear from you. Please reach out to us at (541) 963-3186 to learn more. The deadline for grant planning is April 30, 2026.
