MILTON-FREEWATER – The city of Milton-Freewater’s charter review committee meets tonight (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m. in the Albee Room of the Milton-Freewater Public Library, 8 SW Eighth Ave.
The charter review committee was initiated by a request from citizens requesting the city’s charter be reviewed since it was last updated in 1993.
“The city council passed a resolution establishing a charter review committee for this purpose,” City Recorder Leanne Stedman said.
The charter review committee plans to meet each third Thursday through March 2025 to review the charter with citizen input. Once they have completely gone through the charter, the committee will present their reports or recommendations to the city council.
Any proposed charter amendments will ultimately be reviewed by the council and considered for placement on the ballot.
