SALEM – The committee assignments for the 2023 session of the Oregon Legislature have been made and this area is well represented on the Joint Ways and Means Committee. That’s important as the lawmakers must craft a budget for the state for the coming two years.

Rep. Greg Smith (R-Heppner) is the vice co-chair of Ways and Means and Sen. Bill Hansell (R-Athena) is also a member. In addition, Smith is the co-chair of the General Government Subcommittee and sits on the Capital Construction Subcommittee. Hansell is also on Capital Construction and serves on the Transportation and Economic Development Subcommittee.

Smith’s only other committee assignment is also a joint one, the Legislative Administration Committee.

Levy is a member of the Agriculture, and Use, Natural Resources and Water Committee; the Climate, Energy and Environment Committee; the Revenue Committee; the Semiconductor Committee; and the Tax Expenditure Committee.

In addition to his work on Ways and Means, Hansell also has other committee assignments.  He serves on the Labor and Business Committee, the Rules Committee and the Joint Committee on Semiconductors.

The committee assignments were announced Wednesday by Speaker of the House Dan Rayfield and Senate President Designate Rob Wagner. The session begins on Jan. 17, 2023.
