UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Charter Review Committee was not ignored when it recommended that the county hire a full-time administrator to handle day-to-day business. Currently that’s handled by three full-time commissioners.
Commissioner Dan Dorran said that recommendation was not ignored by the board.
“We’re in the process of figuring out how to do that,” he said. “Will we have a consultant come in, will we have someone from the National Association of Counties, or will it be a current administrator of another county in Oregon?”
The committee’s suggestion is important to the board of commissioners.
“It’s high up on our agenda,” Dorran said. “I would say within the next four to six weeks we will have that meeting or workshop so that we can listen and find out more details about a county administrator.”
