Commissioners to consider new health officer

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners will vote on hiring an acting public health officer at its meeting this morning (Monday) at 10. The board is expected to offer the position to Dr. Daniel Kaminsky.

According to information accompanying the agenda, Kaminsky has agreed to the hiring offer from the county. He will be paid a monthly salary of $7,500 as well as a $500 monthly stipend for being on-call. Additional hours above 24 hours per week will be paid at $75 an hour, and he may not exceed more than 40 hours in a week unless approved in writing.

Every six months, Kaminsky will see a 2.5 percent increase until the hourly wage reaches $100. At that point it would be reviewed by the county and Kaminsky. He will also be reimbursed for expenses.

The commissioners will also vote on the 2021 salaries for county employees. The motion includes salaries for those represented by unions, those who are not represented, and administrators.

There will also be public hearings on the 2021 budget and to consider declaring some county property as surplus. The virtual meeting will be streamed live on the county’s website.
