WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners meet this afternoon (Monday) at 1:15 p.m. On the agenda, approving a contract with Tektoniks of Walla Walla for $31,234.70 for asbestos abatement at the last rental house scheduled for demolitions next to the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds.

Only one bid — the one from Tektoniks – was submitted for the abatement of asbestos at the house located at 1204 South Fourth Street in Walla Walla.

The commissioners will also consider executing a contract not to exceed $35,000 with Meier Architecture of Kennewick for preliminary architectural and engineering services for a new administration and fair museum building at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds. The goal for the design of the new facility is to be low initial cost, low energy consumption, and low, long-term maintenance cost.

Furthermore, the exterior of the administration and fair museum building is to be designed to integrate and complement the existing structures with a focus on the historical Walla Walla County Fairgrounds.
