Commissioners say ‘Maybe’ on taking back control

Recently the County Commissioners across the region sent a letter to Governor Brown, asking to take back management of COVID-19 to the local level. This week, the commissioners heard back from the Governor’s Office that the Governor has received the letter and is reviewing the proposal. Courtney Warner Crowell, Regional Solutions Coordinator for Eastern Oregon for the Office of Governor Kate Brown, also said that while case counts have steadily decreased over the past few weeks, but last week has shown that case numbers are rising across the state and we still need to remain cautious. Crowell also said the Governor is continuing to look and plan for what is next as case numbers decrease and vaccine availability continues to increase.
