Commissioners could approve jail renovation contract

PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners meets at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Pendleton and could get the ball rolling on the renovation of the Umatilla County Jail. Staff is recommending that 2KG Contractors of Portland get the contract with its $2,883,000 bid.

The renovation project includes increasing capacity in the booking area, creating new cells for detox, medical, and holding purposes, and upgrading technology. 2KG also provided supplement bids for additional work if desired: $55,000 for a remodel of the break room, and $320,000 to replace cameras and intercoms.

The commissioners will also act on making two appointments to the Umatilla County Fair Board of Directors and finalizing the revolving fund for housing development in the city of Pendleton.
