GRANT COUNTY – Grant County Commissioner Sam Palmer, who works at Harney District Hospital as an O.R. Nurse, will be taking 10 days off from his usual duties to provide medical support near a Ukrainian warzone. Commissioner Palmer was on KJDY’s Coffee Time and explained he’s taking part in a mission to an area he described as “pretty close to the front.”:

“I will be going to Ukraine the first of August, so I will miss the first August [Grant County Court] meeting. I’ll be doing a medical mission trip for ten days. Harney District Hospital allowed me to purchase about $9,000 worth of equipment. Blue Mountain Hospital has donated a lot of equipment. There will be two of us from Grant County and two former from Grant County that’ll be traveling on this team of ten men to go help.”

Commissioner Palmer doesn’t know much about his detail, but says he’ll have a meeting today and should know more.  He said he’ll keep our newsroom updated regarding his travels.
