WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department responded to a commercial burglary call on the 400 block of West Rees Avenue at 5:37 p.m. Monday and found the building to be full of smoke. Police detectives and fire investigators said there were signs of a forced entry and more than one ignition point, The fire is believed to be arson.
After officers arrived, they immediately dispatched the Walla Walla Fire Department. It was believed a suspect may still be inside, so officers provided security while the firefighters extinguished the fire.
Once the fire was out, officers along with K9 Murphy from the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, searched the building. Nobody was located inside the building.
WWPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Nick Loudermilk said the building used to belong to Clancy’s Transfer and Storage. The building was recently purchased by Northwest Grain Growers.
