DAYTON, Washington – The Columbia County Board of Commissioners voted Monday to appoint Nickolas Ward as the interim prosecuting attorney.
Ward, who is in private practice in Clarkston, will finish the term of Dale Slack, who resigned Sept. 1.
“Mr. Ward is appointed to start on November 1, 2025, in order to give him time to close out his current practice and caseload,” Columbia County Commissioner Ryan Rundell said in a statement to Elkhorn Media Group.
A graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, Ward served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2006-2011; deployed to Iraq once at the end of 2007 until early 2008. He has also served as a deputy prosecutor in Asotin County.
