On September 17, 2025, Baker County Sheriff’s Office personnel conducted a search warrant at a residence on Bisher Street in Halfway, Oregon. The subject of the warrant, James Alan Perales (61 yoa), was arrested and charged with Rape I, Sexual Abuse I, Sodomy I and Unlawful Sexual Penetration I and lodged in the Baker County Jail.
The search warrant stemmed from an investigation that began when deputies received information regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a minor by James Ferrell. After conducting interviews, a search warrant was applied for and granted.
During the investigation, it was discovered that James Ferrell was actually James Alan Perales, a Colorado fugitive at one time listed on the Colorado Top 100 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list. Perales had been posing as Ferrell for nearly twelve years in eastern Oregon.
The Baker County Sheriff’s Office has reason to believe that there are additional victims. If you were victimized by Perales or have information about this case, please contact Deputy Bobby Henshaw at 541-523-6415 ext. 0.
