WALLA WALLA – Tycie Mae Harper Rongey, 27, of College Place entered a guilty plea Monday morning in Walla Walla County Superior Court to hit and run resulting in a fatality and third-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Rongey was involved in an accident in Walla Walla on May 24, 2025, on West Poplar Street and South 11th Avenue. The victim, Robert E. DeWayne, died four days later from his injuries.
On May 29, 2025, Rongey turned herself in to the Walla Walla Police Department where she was interviewed, then transported and booked into the Walla Walla County Jail.
During Monday’s hearing, Rongey learned her sentence could range between 31 to 41 months of confinement, along with 12 months of community custody.
Next, Rongey’s defense attorney is seeking sentencing under the parenting sentencing alternative and mental health sentencing alternative, requiring a risk assessment and chemical dependency screening.
Sentencing is set for May 21 at 3:30 p.m.
