COLLEGE PLACE – The city of College Place will ask voters to approve a bond to support the build of a new police facility on the upcoming Nov. 5 ballot. If approved, the new police facility will be built on South College Avenue next to College Place High School.

The cost of the proposed building is $14,015,000. If approved, it will cost taxpayers around $378 per year based on a home value of $450,000. Chief Troy Tomaras said that contribution will decrease each year with the addition of new homes and businesses. The city has also been awarded a $5,000,000 federal earmark that will help bring the building costs down and pass the saving to the taxpayers.

The city reports the structural integrity of the current building is failing and it’s too small for the growing department.
