College Place seeks public input on transportation improvement plan

COLLEGE PLACE — Local residents will have their say on future road, sidewalk, and infrastructure priorities when the College Place City Council hosts a public hearing on Tuesday, July 28, to review the city’s draft Fiscal Year 2027–2031 Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP).
The five-year blueprint serves as the city’s official capital “wish list” of municipal transit upgrades required to secure state and federal funding. The draft outlines several critical, high-priority projects focused on roadway reconstruction and safety enhancements.
Among the key initiatives featured in the plan is the Northeast Damson Avenue reconstruction. This project seeks to fully overhaul the corridor, transitioning the section between Rose Street and Cargill Avenue from four lanes down to three to calm traffic and bolster overall safety.
Another top priority is the Northeast Rose Street pedestrian lighting project, which will install crucial pedestrian lights and safety devices along the multiuse path extending from Lambert Avenue to Carey Court to increase visibility. Additionally, the plan emphasizes ongoing, annual street preservation — utilizing chip sealing and block resurfacing to restore deteriorated neighborhoods across the city.
The hybrid public hearing will begin at 6 p.m. at College Place City Hall, with virtual access also provided via Zoom and a live stream on the city’s YouTube channel.
