COLLEGE PLACE — The city of College Place is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the city council following the resignation of long-time member Melodie Williams, officials announced Tuesday.

Williams, who has served since 2016, was scheduled to complete her term in December 2027. Mayor Norma L. Hernández praised Williams’ dedication, calling council members the “heartbeat” of the community.

“If you have a passion for this city and want to make a real difference, we need you at the table,” Hernández said.

The appointed successor will serve through 2027. To qualify, applicants must be registered voters and have resided within city limits for at least one year.

Interested candidates must submit a letter of interest, resume, and city questionnaire to the College Place City Clerk by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5. Applications are available on the city’s website. Voters will elect a permanent representative during the 2027 municipal election.
