COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place Public Schools Board of Directors on Tuesday appointed Jodi Grove as the next principal of Davis Elementary School, selecting a familiar face to lead the campus following the retirement of its longtime leader.
The board’s unanimous decision during a special meeting follows the announcement that Principal Mark Ferraro will retire at the end of the school year. Ferraro has served the Davis community for 13 years as both assistant principal and principal. He is expected to transition into a district-wide role focused on math leadership and instructional support next year.
Grove, who joined the school as assistant principal in 2023, will officially assume her new duties on July 1.
“Jodi Grove is not only highly qualified, she is exactly the kind of leader our district values,” President Eva Brown said in a statement. “Her dedication to students, support for staff, and commitment to our community make her an incredible asset.”
District officials cited Grove’s background as a classroom teacher and learning specialist as key factors in the decision. Since arriving at Davis, she has been credited with strengthening instructional systems and trauma-informed practices.
Superintendent Jim Fry praised the appointment, describing Grove as the “perfect fit” for the school.
The district noted that the selection process included a review of staff input and internal data, culminating in an interview with Grove during Tuesday’s meeting. Officials said the early appointment is intended to ensure a smooth leadership transition for the upcoming academic year.
