College Place pursuit leads to arrest of wanted subject

COLLEGE PLACE – A 31-year-old Walla Walla man who had multiple warrants, including one which stemmed from a second-degree murder charge, led law enforcement on a pursuit Sunday night. It began when a College Place police office attempted a traffic stop for speeding at 11:46 p.m. on the 800 block of Northeast Rose Street in College Place.
The driver, identified as Andres Solis, failed to yield to the officer’s lights and siren. As the officer continued to follow, Solis allegedly committed several additional traffic violations and drove in a manner that led the officer to believe the driver may be under the influence of intoxicants. The officer received supervisor approval to continue pursuing the vehicle. Several other officers, deputies and troopers assisted in attempts to catch up and stop the vehicle as it fled from them for several miles.
Solis eventually came to a stop and ran from the vehicle in the area of Kenneth Street and South Fourth Street in Walla Walla. Law enforcement continued to pursue him on foot before he was taken into custody moments later in a nearby alley.
Booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on his confirmed warrants, Solis received additional charges of driving under the influence, attempting to elude a police vehicle, reckless driving, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and possession of a controlled substance.
The Walla Walla Police Department, Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington State Patrol assisted the College Place Police Department in apprehending Solis.
