COLLEGE PLACE – College Place police officers Eric Adams and Austin Dennis were presented life-saving awards during Tuesday night’s city council meeting following their actions taken on May 18.

The officers responded to a residence on Wallula Avenue for a man suffering from cardiac arrest. He was unconscious and had no pulse. Officers Adams and Dennis began and continued CPR and rescue breathing until medics arrived.

Robert Van Mierlo regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital. He made a full recovery.

The actions of both officers were brought to Chief Troy Tomaras’ attention when he received a letter from Van Mierlo’s daughter thanking the officers for saving her father.
