College Place City Council poised to clear final hurdle for Mojonnier Road project

COLLEGE PLACE — The College Place City Council is expected to clear the final hurdle for a major roadway improvement project during its meeting Tuesday night.
Council members will consider a $75,000 right-of-way acquisition on Mojonnier Road from property owners Mike and Lisa McKiernan. According to city staff, the purchase marks the 18th and final right-of-way acquisition needed for the Mojonnier Road improvement project.
Approval of the land purchase will allow the College Place Public Works Department to open the project for bidding and obligate Washington Department of Transportation funds for the current fiscal year.
Planned upgrades for Mojonnier Road include widening the thoroughfare from two lanes to three lanes, adding dedicated turn lanes, pedestrian sidewalks, and bike lanes. The project also features a green landscaped strip, alongside pedestrian safety crosswalks and lights.
In other business, the council will amend its 2026 committee assignments to reflect recent transitions within the panel. Council members will update the roster to account for recent resignations, relocations, and new appointments.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at College Place City Hall.
