COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to fund $35,000 in city hall renovations to address critical overcrowding.
The project will convert basement space into three new workstations, as city staff reported current office areas have reached maximum capacity. To comply with fire and building codes, the upgrades include constructing a fire-rated corridor and door at the base of the stairs, alongside electrical modifications to the building’s alarm and detection systems.
The $35,000 expenditure will be covered by reallocating funds from a previously approved $100,000 key card design project. By prioritizing the immediate need for workspace, officials confirmed the security system upgrade will be postponed until 2027. The scope of work includes the new corridor, wiring, and the installation of three cubicle units.
