HERMISTON โ Mapping from the air has put the acreage estimate of the Cold Springs Fire at 1,000 acres, and level one and two evacuation orders remain in effect as of Thursday morning. Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 says one residence has been confirmed as lost.
A Level Two, Be Set evacuation is still in effect south of U.S. Highway 730 to Cold Springs Reservoir between Tabor Road and Oregon Highway 37. Level One, Be Ready is in effect for Salmon Point west to Hat Rock, and North of Oregon Highway 37 to Juniper Canyon. A shelter is available at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center in Hermiston.
The fire began yesterday afternoon and multiple agencies responded, closing a section of Oregon Highway 37 for several hours.
