BAKER CITY — A truck driver from Spokane Valley, WA was cited on I-84 last week in connection to a case involving an allegedly stolen commercial motor vehicle. It turns out the driver didn’t perform his scheduled duties because he reportedly had a stomachache.

On Thursday, May 14th, Oregon State Police Troopers were dispatched to the report of a stolen commercial vehicle, which was being tracked by the trucking company. Troopers located the vehicle near milepost 304 at Baker City and conducted a traffic stop. Troopers were able to develop a probable cause for the unlawful use of a motor vehicle, according to the report. OSP reports, “The driver of the CMV was complaining of stomach pain and nausea and had been sick for the past few days. Paramedics responded to the scene and ultimately transported the driver to Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Baker City.”

The driver was cited and released in lieu of custody for Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle. The commercial truck was secured and left on scene to be recovered by the company.
