KENNEWICK – Two adults and a toddler escaped injury following a mobile home fire just after 1 a.m. Monday on the 800 block of West Klamath Avenue in Kennewick. The cause of the fire was determined to be a clothes dryer.

Kennewick Fire Chief Chad Michael said the adults were alerted to the fire when they saw smoke. When the adults went to investigate, they discovered the fire was coming from the dryer in the laundry room. They and the toddler fled the mobile home and remained in one of their vehicles nearby while firefighters worked on putting the fire out.

There were no working smoke alarms inside of the mobile home at the time of the fire.

Michael said the impacted family is being provided immediate assistance with food and clothing, plus short-term assistance from KFD’s community partners.
