GRANT COUNTY – Firefighting resources responded to a couple of small wildfire starts over the weekend, according to wildcad.net.

On Friday, Umatilla National Forest firefighters responded to the Hairpin wildfire, a few miles northeast of Monument. It was reportedly controlled at a tenth of an acre.

Then, on Saturday, crews from the Malheur National Forest responded to the Clear wildfire between Prairie City and Unity. It also did not exceed a tenth of an acre and has been reported contained.

Fire season has officially ended for this portion of the state, but with warmer temperatures forecast in the near future, the public is asked to use caution when burning and enjoying the outdoors.
