PENDLETON – The Pendleton Basketball Club hosts Clash at the Border this weekend. Organizers say that 52 teams will play in seven gyms in Pendleton. Action will be at Washington Elementary School, Sherwood Heights Elementary School, both gyms at Sunridge Middle School and Pendleton High School, and the gym at Nixyaawii Community School.
In addition to American Athletic Union teams from throughout the local region, hoopsters will travel from as far away as Moscow, Idaho, Grandview, Yakima, and Central Oregon. The tournament is known for bringing a big economic boost to Pendleton’s restaurants, retailers, and hotels. Teams are for girls and boys in the third through eighth grades.
Those who want to keep track of the games need to download https://tourneymachine.com/. There they will see teams and game schedules. More information about the host teams can be found at https://www.pendletonbasketballclub.org/.
Admission is $7 for adults. Children ages 6-18 and seniors 55 and older pay $5. Children 5 and younger are free.
The money raised by the tournament goes to support Pendleton’s AAU teams for travel expenses and tournament entry fees as well as for equipment. Proceeds also help both Pendleton High School and Nixyaawii Community School basketball teams to meet equipment needs, hosting youth camps, and attending summer camps. Local booster club funds are earmarked solely for facility improvements, so the extra money is a big help to high school programs.
