HERMISTON – Employees for the city of Hermiston are boxing up and getting ready to move out Friday. When Monday dawns, city hall will be operating in the basement of the Hermiston Public Library.
“Traditional functions like utility billing will be closing on Friday so that we can move all of those operations into our temporary home in the basement of the library,” Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan said.
The staff is expected to be in those temporary headquarters for 18 to 24 months, but the exact timeline has not yet been established. City officials will have a better idea next week after the first pre-construction meeting on the project.
“We’ll learn a lot more and as soon as we know some more tentative timelines from the contractor, we’ll certainly try to get the message out to all the impacted stakeholders in the downtown,” Morgan said.
