PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council meets at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday). One of the main items on the agenda is a change in internet services and support services.

Pendleton’s internet has been operated by the InterMountain Education Service District. That’s changing, because the city reports that IMESD is “choosing to exit its support … in order to focus attention on its highest priority, school districts’ IT needs.”

The city is currently in negotiations with Wtechlink to be the city’s internet service provider. Officials are also working on a contract with the city of Hermiston to provide support services. If the contracts have been completed in time, they will be considered at this meeting. If not, they will be on the agenda for the Nov. 15 meeting.

The council will also consider awarding a bid to Integrity Inspection Solutions of Nampa, Idaho for its manhole rehabilitation project, which is now in its second of five years. The overall focus is to reduce the inflow of groundwater into manholes located where there is river influence.

This particular phase will work on measures to seal the contact points between the manhole base and the first, and in some cases second, barrel rings. The project is focusing on 90 manhole covers downstream of the 92 covers that were completed in 2021.

The meeting is in council chambers at Pendleton City Hall. It is also available via Zoom. The meeting ID is 868 4190 5447 and the pass code is 097887.
