WALLA WALLA – The city of Walla Walla is still in negotiations for the remaining rights-of-way needed for the entire $15.2 million Myra Road extension project from State Route 125 to Taumarson Road.
“We need temporary construction easements and things like that, and so those are all in process, and we’re anticipating to be ready to go as soon as we put the project out to bid,” City Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain said at last Wednesday’s city council meeting.
Currently, the schedule is to put this project out to bid Jan. 21. Chamberlain added she’s hopeful the easement issue will be resolved by then.
Once the project is put out to bid, the project will come back to city council likely either the second meeting in February or the first meeting in March for them to award the contract. City staff says the Myra Road extension project opens up a significant portion of land for residential and commercial development. The project is expected to begin construction in spring 2025.
