PENDLETON – The city of Pendleton continues to move forward on its goal for more housing, and officials say the future looks bright. Mayor John Turner says the most attractive area right now is more than 100 acres north of Interstate 84 near Exit 210.

“I believe the property owners are motivated to work with the developer,” he said. “I can’t really say anything more than that, but the city knows that we need housing, and the city is willing to work with folks to try and make that happen.”

City Manager Robb Corbett says the housing market should interest developers.

.”The housing market is the hottest as it’s ever been at least in recent memory,” he said. “I think we are starting to see it with the new apartments being constructed and the apartments being planned.”

City officials are hopeful that the acreage near the interstate will add to Pendleton’s single-family home inventory.
