City of Walla Walla announces new Communications Manager

WALLA WALLA, Washington — The City of Walla Walla is announcing the hiring of a new Communications Manager: Brenden Koch (last name pronounced “coke”). 

Koch comes to the City after more than seven years as an editor at the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin newspaperincluding two years as Managing Editor of Walla Walla Lifestyles magazine.  Prior to his time at the U-B, he worked for 12 years as a graphic designer at Outwest Printing in Milton-Freewater, Oregon.  He also is a freelance graphic designer.   

Koch is a longtime Walla Walla Valley resident, and a graduate of Walla Walla Community College and Washington State University.   

He will serve as the City’s primary contact with the media, community organizations, government agencies, and other groups.  His duties will include engaging employees, residents, businesses, and visitors in two-way communication with the City. 

“I greatly appreciate Walla Walla’s role in the region’s past and present, and I am pleased to be given the opportunity to put my skills to work for the City,” Koch said.  “I’m looking forward to helping to enhance the communication between the City, its residents, and its stakeholders.” 

In commenting on Koch’s hire, Walla Walla City Manager Nabiel Shawa said, “We’re very pleased to have Brenden join the City Team. His skills, experience, and knowledge of Walla Walla contribute greatly to the City’s efforts to engage citizens and raise awareness of City issues and events.”
