ONTARIO – (Press Release from the City of Ontario) The City of Ontario has completed the initial lead service line inventory required by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) for compliance with the US EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. Ontario Department of Public Works is pleased to announce that no lead, galvanized requiring replacement, or unknown service lines were detected in our assessment of the City’s distribution system.

City utilized all applicable sources of information including construction permits and existing records which indicate service materials; county parcel year-built data which indicates non-lead service lines on properties built after January 1st, 1986; water system records; and distribution system inspection and maintenance/repair records.

In addition to the above methods, City of Ontario inspected over 350 customer service connections utilizing the OHA’s statistical analysis method and verified that they contained all non-lead at the inspection points. No lead or galvanized requiring replacement service lines were found. City of Ontario continues to document service line material information during normal operations and will update the initial inventory as required.
