NORTH POWDER – In a recent newsletter, The City of North Powder announced that, in an effort to ease the burden of frozen pipes, will offer “freeze credits” for extra water use during the winter months.
The freeze credits will apply to up to 10,000 gallons of additional water used when the temperature drops, and stays, at or below freezing for at least 3 days in a row. During this time, residents can let their faucets drip to help prevent frozen pipes without needing to worry about adding to their water bills. Note the city is not responsible in the event a resident’s pipes do actually freeze. The city further recommends leaving cupboard doors open to help prevent freezing pipes.
