LONG CREEK – Don Porter, Mayor and Fire Chief in Long Creek, updated our newsroom on their recent Emergency Services Support Dinner, held on Saturday, April 25th.
Porter had mentioned this was the first year the event was held since being put on hold when COVID-19 hit. Porter said over 100 people attended and generated over $8,000 for Long Creek’s emergency services. He noted this was by far the highest amount ever generated at their EMS dinner, surpassing their pre-COVID $5,000 record.
Earlier in the month, Mayor Porter was on KJDY’s Coffee Time and explained the department planned on auctioning off one of their older engines at the dinner. Porter said no one ended up buying the engine, and since then, their volunteer firefighters have put in around 50 hours of work to fix it up and recommission the engine as a secondary firetruck for the department.
